Wren at St Paul's Posted: 23/01/17

An excited group of Wren students visited St Paul's Cathedral on 20 January for a ceremony marking the retirement of the Bishop of London, the Right Revd Richard Chartres. The occasion was one of our first ever joint primary - secondary trips with children from both phases of the Academy travelling into central London together. As well as the delegation from Wren, children from dozens of other schools in the London Diocese attended the service.

Wren at St Paul's

An excited group of Wren students visited St Paul's Cathedral on 20 January for a ceremony marking the retirement of the Bishop of London, the Right Revd Richard Chartres.  The occasion was one of our first ever joint primary - secondary trips with children from both phases of the Academy travelling into central London together.  As well as the delegation from Wren, children from dozens of other schools in the London Diocese attended the service.

Dr Chartres has been a keen supporter of Wren ever since the Academy's opening in 2008.  He was one of the earliest members of the clergy to visit us and coined the memorable phrase 'Wren Pioneers' when referring to our inaugural Year 7 students.  All of the many Wren students who have encountered him have found Dr Chartres an interested and enthusiastic presence on his visits to the Academy.

The children who visited St Paul's on 20 January were accompanied by our Chaplain Mr Booker and by Mrs Hallam one of our Reception teachers.  We are sure that they all had a memorable time.
