Outdoor Classroom Day

We all know the enjoyment had and the importance of learning outdoors.  On 10 May, Wren Academy Primary joined in with Outdoor Classroom day.  Why?  Outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature.  Play not only teaches critical life skills such as resilience, teamwork and creativity, but is central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.

The children rotated between a range of activities including building habitats, scavenger hunts, water relay races, exploring the mud kitchen and mini beast hunts.  The feedback was fantastic and we were also extremely lucky with the sunshine!  The children also all planted vegetables or flowers around the school.  We look forward to seeing them grow and hopefully picking some beans and tomatoes from them in the future.

A brilliant day had by all!
