General Information

Welcome to the parents' section of the Wren Academy website.  In this section you will find information which will hopefully be of interest and use to you.

We have sought to include information we think will be of value to parents and to present it in a way which makes it straightforward.  We are always looking for ways of communicating with our parents more effectively.  If there are things that are difficult to find in this section of the website then please let us know.  Alternatively, if there is information not present here which you would like to see on the website then, once again, please let us know.

Accessing the Academy

The entrance for all students is at the beginning of Hilton Avenue on the corner of Woodhouse Road or the double gates next to this on Hilton Avenue.  Visitors should walk down to the bottom of Hilton Avenue to the main entrance.

Between 8.30am and 8.40am (8.45am for Reception only) each day, Reception and KS1 parents should arrive with their children and bring them to meet the staff at the drop off area. KS2 children can walk through the double gates and walk down our supervised path.

KS1 children can be collected from the same area at 3.15pm and KS2 children at 3.20 pm.

For parents bringing their children to breakfast and after school club, they will need to bring them into school at the bottom of Hilton Avenue.  Breakfast club begins at 7.30am and after school club goes on until 6.00pm.

Parents or carers are not permitted to drive down Hilton Avenue as it is registered as a Safer School Street and is therefore closed from 8.00 - 9.30am and 3.00 - 4.30pm

Seesaw

(Tapestry for Reception Classes Only)

Please download this app on your phone to view your child’s learning and to see announcements/reminders from the class teacher. Use this app to view your child’s work and make comments on their learning or activities. The messaging service is turned off.

Home Learning Books

This will have all home learning tasks included so you no longer need to look through Seesaw to find home learning tasks. Some home learning tasks may say ‘upload to Seesaw’ to allow for creativity, but these will be limited.

Spellings

Spellings will be stuck into books for you to refer to each week (except school holidays). We will also post these on Seesaw in case you misplace the book or want to view them on here.

Speaking to Teachers

I have included below a timetable of when teachers are on duty at the drop off and pick up zone.

Please note that this timetable can change on occasion.

If you cannot get to see your child’s teacher on the days listed below, please email primary@wrenacademy.org and they will   either respond, or, if necessary, organise a phone call.

Online Apps

I have included a table below about what apps we have available to students. Please also use the guide to help you if you are unsure of how best to use the apps provided.

Reading Records

Please ensure your child brings their reading record into school every day. This is because each day teachers listen to three children read.  Every two weeks you should receive a comment in your child’s book which informs you of your child’s reading progress and the targets they are working on. Please note this can change when different school activities or events take place, however, this is what the teachers will strive to achieve. Please be understanding and talk respectfully to teachers  if you are worried if this has been missed.

First contact queries by phone will be dealt with by one our receptionists, Claudette Robinson or Helen Young, who will be able to direct the query to the most appropriate member of staff.

The primary administrative assistant is Daniela Divaira.
