Year 6 Trip to Christ Church Posted: 6/10/22
Year 6 visited Christ Church to explore the question, What makes God loving and holy?, as part of our RE unit on God. The children devised questions to ask Reverend Walker and we had a variety of thoughtful and pertinent questions such as, If you go to church, does it make you closer to God?
The children had a carousel of activities:
- The work carried out by the church in the community.
- The features of a font.
- The altar and stained glass windows.
We all learnt that God’s holiness is reflected in the grand stature of the Church and his lovingness is represented by the stained glass windows; these show the beauty of his creation and the sacrifices that he made for his people. We also discussed how Christians (who are the Church) show God’s love through the charity work and community support that they carry out.
Reverend Dave Walker answered all of the children’s questions with passion, enthusiasm and kindness. The children all had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing their learning in real life.
