Year 1 Knights and Castles Workshop Posted: 28/09/22
In Year 1 this term, the children have been learning about Knights and Castles.
They have explored the different parts of a castle and their uses. They have also learnt about the importance of the different parts of a knight’s armour. This was useful as during our Knights and Castles workshop the children were able to answer Queen Gwyneth’s questions.
Children learnt about Henry VIII and his six wife's and they sang a song to recall the order of Henry's marriages.
The trainee knights then went on to learn how to joust and used these skills during a jousting competition in their royal teams. All the children where then knighted by Queen Gwyneth for their outstanding jousting skills.
To end the workshop the children learnt a traditional Tudor dance, which they all had the opportunity to perform in front of each other. The workshop was enjoyed by all.
