Year 5 had an incredible overnight residential at HYMB/YHA. The children enjoyed many activities: kayaking, bell boating, paddle boarding, archery and rock climbing, they demonstrated excellent listening and teamwork skills in the sessions.

All our children showed great resilience and determination and supported each other throughout the trip.

We are so proud of all our children!

Here are some snippets from the children's recounts about our residential:

My group had all my friends in it, which made the first activity a piece of cake. That's what I thought before my wetsuit came loose, and water started flooding in.

In my boat, as I was peacefully cruising along my foot got stuck. I tried to pull it free, but that didn't work. Then, before I knew it, I was submerged underwater with my life jacket barely keeping me afloat.

When our instructor Emma came, she asked for two captains, who would be obedient and a good leader. Somehow, the majority of the votes were for me!

My eyes widened with excitement when I heard we were paddle boarding. I was scared to go on my knees, but I gave it a go. YES I DID IT! Lilien applauded me from afar. A sparkle of confidence appeared in me.
