Christian performed with the children rather than at them

All children had the amazing opportunity to work with the poet Christian Foley.  Words are meant to be played with, poets can mould them like plasticine.

Each workshop begins with a series of language games alongside interactive poem and rap activities. Christian performed with the children rather than at them and the students work on their active listening skills, engaging with the rhymes before even picking up a pencil.

Students worked on both their emotional and skills based literacy, learning to translate their emotions onto the page and develop the capacity to articulate who they are and how they relate to the world. Students are encouraged to play with words and use literary techniques and poetic devices, and no, poems do not have to rhyme.
