Year 1 Trip to the London Transport Museum Posted: 24/01/25
On Wednesday 22 January, our enthusiastic Year 1 children set off on an exciting adventure to the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. This visit was the perfect way to bring their learning to life, as they have been exploring how and why transport has changed over time in their history lessons.
The museum provided them with a fascinating opportunity to see how transport has changed over time by looking at sedan chairs, horse drawn buses, trams, steam trains and early buses. Seeing these different modes of transport up close was exciting and helped children make comparisons with modern transport.
A highlight of the trip was taking part in Joe’s Busy Bus workshop, a truly magical experience that transported the children back in time to 1910! They met an actor playing the part of Joe Clough, who was London’s first black bus driver. Pupils then embarked on a mission to piece together clues left by passengers on his bus.
