Internet Safety Day Posted: 14/02/25
Internet Safety Day began with an assembly for KS1 and KS2, where pupils discovered the risks of online scams and the hidden dangers of excessive phone use. They learned that too much screen time does not just drain their phone’s battery, it drains their own energy too, making them more likely to fall for a scam when they are tired or distracted. Pupils also learned four key ways to spot a scam: offers that seem too good to be true, unexpected contact, requests for personal information, and being asked for money or trades.
In class we had a lively debate, where all year groups passionately discussed whether smartphones should be banned in schools, weighing up the pros and cons of mobile technology. In the afternoon, Computing curriculum advisors visited classrooms and brought the fun with interactive quizzes, challenging students to test their knowledge and reinforcing key lessons.
The energy and enthusiasm from the students made the day a huge success, leaving pupils feeling more confident and equipped to navigate the online world safely!
