It has been a fantastic start to the new year with all our new children settling in beautifully to their new classes. They have been getting used to the new routines of school and making new friends, which is lovely to watch.

 

We held both of our coffee mornings for parents this week, which was a great opportunity to share all the information about what the children will be learning about in class. The parents loved visiting their children in class and the children loved showing off all their learning.

 

The Year 1 children have settled so quickly into their new classrooms. Holly and Cherry class have begun their topic of ‘All About Me and you’. They have been learning all about their senses and went on a sound walk this week to find different sounds and describe them. They have also been exploring all of their new Numicon equipment which will help them to learn important number facts. It has been lovely to see the children working in their new Year 1 books. They have been taking so much pride in their presentation and the standard of work that has been produced has been excellent.

 

Our first Christian value this year is Hope. The children have been thinking about their own hopes and dreams for this year and for the future. We will soon be thinking about the hopes that other children around the world may have. We will think of Maxwell who lives in Kenya. At Wren we sponsor Maxwell to enable him to go to school  and we will soon be holding a non-uniform day to raise money for him and other children who may need our help.

 

I am delighted to have a new team of committee members to lead on all of our Friends of Wren events throughout the year. We have our first meeting in a couple of weeks and it will be great to see all the wonderful events which we will be able to hold this year. Our first priority is to organise our fabulous Christmas Fair for all the parents and children. More information will come shortly!
