Building Learning Power

At Wren, we strongly believe that teaching the children key skills about ‘how to learn’ is key to our academic success. In every classroom we have BLP assessment ladders where we can judge how well we are using our learning powers such as collaboration, perseverance, and listening. We want to demonstrate to the children that we are all learners and we all need to persevere in order to progress. To begin this every member of staff has a session where they go to try a range of musical instruments and be shown how to use them by DaCapo. It was challenging for all of us and made us reflect on how the children may feel when facing a new challenge or something brand new. We are looking to demonstrate this to the children in the school and remind them that we are all learners too!
