Community Projects

As a school, we have been developing our range of community links and finding ways that we can support others.  Our first adventure was in Hampstead Heath, supporting the Heath Hands project!  The Year 3 children were delighted at the opportunity to go and tidy and re-plant items in the Orchard in Hempstead Heath.  We have spoken about how important it is to help others and volunteer our time to excellent causes.  Over Harvest, as well as collecting an amazing array of food for the food banks, we went to visit our local nursing home to sing some of our wonderful Harvest songs!  The children really enjoyed the experience and seeing the elderly people react to the children in such a positive way was delightful, we felt we had really brightened their day.

We are currently working on ‘Operation Christmas Child!’, a wonderful project where we collect a shoe box of presents and send off to disadvantaged children around the world, to make their Christmas as special as ours.  We also have some wonderful plans around Christmas time to go and help some of the local churches with their decorations and to sing our carols to spread the Christmas spirit.  Finally on Friday, we are joining in with the Children in Need Spotacular celebration.  This is such an important celebration and the children have been learning about what ‘in need’ means and how other children’s lives can really differ to their own.  We are determined to continue to find ways to help others this year and we look forward to sharing our projects with you.
