Guy Claxton Training

9 June 2016

Guy ClaxtonWe were so fortunate to receive training from Professor Guy Claxton yesterday. He is the pioneer behind Building Learning Power and a huge inspiration to all of us here at Wren.

We spent a lot of time discussing how to create the  right culture here for our primary children. We want to ensure we are preparing our children to face challenges with confidence, to be accepting of making mistakes, and how children can become supportive critical friends. We want our children to not feel that making a mistake or finding something hard is a failure but to relish these experiences and learn how to cope. We want all our children to become resilient and confident citizens of the future. To do this we are going to be looking at how we can get the children to understand what challenges they need to tackle, to enjoy completing ‘hard’ work and to keep trying at different activities until they achieve their personal best. I look forward to sharing more of his words of wisdom with you during our upcoming transition meetings and curriculum meetings so you are also able to support your child at home with this too.
